About Amparo
Associação Amparo Nomad Cultural Experience is a non-profit association based in Machico, Madeira, constituted for an indefinite period under Portuguese law.
Our purpose
Amparo exists to integrate digital nomads, remote workers, entrepreneurs, visionaries, freelancers, artists and the wider foreign community into the ecosystem of Madeira — creating interaction and an exchange of knowledge and experience with the local community, and promoting growth and innovation in the digital, social and cultural spheres.
Our pillars
What the statutes commit us to
- Developing sports and physical and mental well-being activities
- Running social responsibility, charity and non-profit initiatives and events
- Assisting local organisations in situations that require support
- Promoting regional 'made in Madeira' products
- Promoting Madeira through content, workshops and knowledge sharing, and championing local art and culture
How we are governed
Amparo is governed by its General Assembly. Founding and effective members may take part in Assembly meetings, discuss and vote on all resolutions, and stand for election to the association's governing bodies. That is why membership matters: it is how the community decides what the fund supports.
